Biography
Samuel Junior Giveson, professionally known as SMJ, is a Nigerian music producer, band director, pianist, drummer, and songwriter. An indigene of Akwa Ibom who grew up in Lagos, he discovered drums at age three and the keyboard at age five. SMJ started playing for the church at a young age, joined Republic of Xtreme as a teenager, and developed into a multi-talented music director and producer known for both worship and mainstream afro-pop production.
SMJ is widely recognised for his work with major gospel and contemporary artists, his role as bandleader for the Xtreme crew/Rox Nation family, and for hosting his own live concert series called “The Outsider.” He’s earned industry awards for production and been credited on high-profile gospel projects, building a reputation for musical excellence, dynamic live arrangements, and a strong online presence as a performer and creator.
